Job Description

African Parks is a non-profit conservation organization that takes on responsibility for the long-term management of protected areas in partnership with governments and local communities. African Parks manages 24 protected areas in 13 countries covering over 20 million hectares in Angola, Benin, Central African Republic, Chad, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Malawi, Mozambique, the Republic of Congo, South Sudan, Rwanda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

Job Purpose

To manage accurate and timely payroll processing while providing HR administrative support and ensuring compliance with statutory and company policies.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Process monthly payroll (salaries, wages, overtime, deductions)
  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements (PAYE, UIF, SDL, etc.)
  • Maintain payroll records and reports
  • Administer employee benefits (medical aid, pension, etc.)
  • Manage leave administration and ESS systems
  • Prepare and reconcile payroll reports
  • Handle payroll queries and resolve discrepancies
  • Maintain employee records and HR documentation
  • Assist with audits and reporting requirements
  • Support HR processes such as onboarding and terminations

 

Minimum Requirements

 

  • Diploma/Degree in HR, Finance, or Payroll
  • 3–5 years’ payroll experience
  • Experience with payroll systems (e.g., Sage 300 People)
  • Knowledge of South African labour legislation and tax regulations
  • Advanced Excel skills
