African Parks is a non-profit conservation organization that takes on responsibility for the long-term management of protected areas in partnership with governments and local communities. African Parks manages 24 protected areas in 13 countries covering over 20 million hectares in Angola, Benin, Central African Republic, Chad, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Malawi, Mozambique, the Republic of Congo, South Sudan, Rwanda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

Job Purpose

To provide administrative and operational support to the HR department while gaining practical exposure to HR functions including recruitment, payroll support, employee records, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with recruitment processes (job postings, screening CVs, scheduling interviews)
  • Maintain and update employee records on HR systems (e.g., Sage 300 / Simplify HR)
  • Support onboarding and offboarding processes
  • Assist with payroll administration (data capturing, timesheets, leave tracking)
  • Prepare HR documentation (contracts, letters, reports)
  • Support training coordination and performance management processes
  • Ensure proper filing and compliance with HR policies and POPIA
  • Respond to basic employee queries

Minimum Requirements

  • Diploma/Degree in Human Resources, Industrial Psychology, or related field
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills
  • Good communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Attention to detail and willingness to learn
